Have an RV Thanksgiving at Cottonwood Cove RV Resort

For the majority of people, Thanksgiving involves time together with family and friends at home. However, just because there are wheels under your residence doesn’t mean your Thanksgiving celebrations need to change. With a few days off work and campsites available at Cottonwood Cove RV Resort, you may as well spend your time enjoying the beautiful fall colours of the Shuswap!

In case you haven’t spent Thanksgiving in your RV, we thought we’d show you just how easy it is to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal with some helpful dinner cooking tips. That way you can easily enjoy your Thanksgiving camping trip at Cottonwood Cove RV Resort on Shuswap Lake.

RV Thanksgiving Tips

Prepping at Home

Before leaving for your Shuswap camping trip, think ahead to your Thanksgiving dinner and prepare as much of the food ahead of time as possible. If you are able to do some of the prep work and freeze those items until your departure date comes around, you will have less that needs to be done inside of your small RV kitchen. The whole meal won’t be able to be prepped at home, but even getting a few basic tasks out of the way can be a big time saver.

The Turkey

Instead of the all-day cooking and baking event of your previous Thanksgivings, the task may need to be spread out over a couple days — due to reduced cooking space. You may also want to consider simply roasting the turkey breast instead. With this option, you can cut your cooking time down drastically and reduce the size of the vessel needed to do the cooking. You still get to enjoy the classic turkey taste that you are used to at Thanksgiving, but without nearly the time or prep demands of doing the full bird.

Side Dishes

Use your slow cooker and microwave for your side dishes. Sweet potato casserole, green beans, and potatoes all do nicely in a slow cooker or even microwave. If you want them to have a browned top, give them a few minutes under the broiler when the turkey is out and resting.

Apple Crisp is an easy recipe regardless if you are at home or in your RV. To free up some cooking space inside your rig, try cooking it on the BBQ! Click here for the full recipe.
